Professional Background
Kevin started his career in tax in the spring of 2003 while attending the University of North Texas. His older brother Mike — a well-respected CPA who owned a thriving practice in Rockwall, Texas — offered Kevin a position as a bookkeeper and tax preparer. What began as a college-era opportunity turned into a lifelong profession. For the next 14 years, Kevin worked inside Mike Oliver CPA LLC, mastering the day-to-day craft of small-business tax, bookkeeping, payroll, and client service across the Rockwall and DFW market.
After more than a decade in traditional tax preparation, Kevin recognized a recurring pattern: business owners were showing up once a year with a box of receipts and no financial visibility. The #1 reason clients left their prior tax preparer, he observed, was the lack of communication and proactive advice. Combined with direct experience serving as the Fractional CFO for one of the largest BBQ restaurant chains in North Texas, this insight sparked a new vision.
In 2017, Kevin formally launched Oliver Tax Group LLC — transforming his practice from a once-a-year tax shop into a year-round, CFO-style advisory firm built to deliver proactive guidance at scale.
